Arizona Medication Assisted Treatment
Get The Help You Need Today For Your Addiction
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a “whole-patient” approach to the treatment of substance use disorders. MAT is primarily used for the treatment of addiction to opioids such as heroin and prescription pain relievers that contain opiates, as well as severe alcohol use disorder. The prescribed medication operates to normalize brain chemistry, block the euphoric effects of alcohol and opioids, relieve physiological cravings, and normalize body functions without the negative and euphoric effects of the substance used.
What Medications are used?
For alcohol use:
- Acamprosate,
- Disulfiram, and
- Naltrexone
For opioid use:
- Buprenorphine, and
- Naltrexone
Any female, or childbearing age, will have a pregnancy test performed prior to starting on MAT therapy, unless there is a documented history of hysterectomy.

This facility deserves a special recognition. They have been around for years but the services they provide and the recovery that comes out of their facility, only seem to grow over the years. I have worked with Stephen from the admissions department and he has always gone above and beyond to make sure clients feel comfortable and get the care they need. I definitely recommend Decision Point Center!!!!- Ashley B.

What Is Failure To Launch And How Do You Treat It?Failure to launch refers to a young person who is unable to leave the protection of the parental home to begin living independently. Whether young people succumb to substance misuse and lose the ability to focus and work effectively, or if they are self-medicating to overcome underlying mental health problems such as depression and anxiety, failure to launch is often the result of substance abuse. Decision Point assists with identity achievement, mental health disorders, functional relationship building, educational and career counseling services, and the trauma often found in young people suffering from failure to launch.

How Long Will I Be In Treatment?Because substance use is a chronic disease, completion of our program is based on your unique needs and progress, and not on a date. While our Residential Program is a good guidepost, treatment over a longer period may be prescribed if it’s warranted.
