Michael A. Frost, MSN, RN, PMGT-BC, FNP-BC, AP-PMN is a specialist in the management of chronic pain and addiction, with an interest in the treatment of pain with co-morbid addiction. Michael is nationally recognized in both fields. He graduated from the University of Arizona’s College of Nursing focusing on Family Practice and Rural Health. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University, Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Northern Arizona University, and Associate of Science in Nursing from Yavapai College.
Michael has a wealth of experience and training in buprenorphine induction, stabilization, and maintenance in inpatient, residential, and outpatient settings.
Michael actively works to “de-prescribe” high risk combinations, minimize patient medication burden and polypharmacy, and to help the patient discover the value of minimal medication reliance through the increased implementation of home exercise, positive self-management, and corrective or therapeutic interventions. Michael has worked with numerous programs nationwide and presented to international audiences on pain management strategies to reduce risk and maximize function in chronic pain and co-occurring addiction. Currently, Michael is a part of the Integrated Therapies Department at the Northern Arizona Veterans Administration Health Care System working with Veterans in Northern Arizona with chronic pain. Michael also provides direct care and supervision for acute drug and alcohol withdrawal at Tru Recovery Detox, residential treatment at Decision Point Center, and Hospice evaluations for Good Samaritan Hospice.
