As the holidays wind down, many people at this time of year are struggling with a drinking problem that may have been made worse by the stress and excitement of the busy holiday season. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and all the activities in between are full of shopping, family get togethers, work parties, and excitement. Someone struggling with alcohol abuse or alcoholism often finds this time of year very challenging.

Because of the whirlwind of activity that occurs around the holidays, it is easy to become stressed and overworked. Alcohol abuse leads to accidental injuries, drunken driving, and alcoholism. Someone who binge drinks is putting themselves in danger every time they abuse alcohol, and often makes those around them uncomfortable and embarrassed as well.

Healthy and Happy Holidays

Rather than the holidays being a time of family togetherness and celebrations, the holidays for some are depressing and tragic because of alcohol. It does not have to be this way, however. Anyone with a tendency to abuse alcohol and get drunk should find other ways to have a good time or handle the stress associated with the holidays.
