Supporting the whole family
Substance use can affect trust, communication, and everyday family life. Family therapy offers a setting to discuss these challenges and consider how relationships can support recovery. At Decision Point Center, family involvement is considered as part of substance use treatment rather than a standalone mental health service.
What families can discuss
Conversations may include communication, boundaries, expectations during treatment, and planning for life after treatment. Each family has different needs. Participation should reflect the client’s consent, privacy, and clinical circumstances.
Planning your involvement
Ask the treatment team how family participation fits the individual care plan, who may be involved, and how to prepare. For practical information, visit our family resources page.
