Arizona Anxiety Treatment

We Help You Overcome Anxiety, Addiction, and Co-Occurring Disorders

If you are suffering from anxiety, you are not alone. More than 40 million adults in the United States have an anxiety disorder – that’s 19.1% of the population. As the most common mental health concern in the country, anxiety also affects 7% of children and young adults ages 3 to 17. Further, people with anxiety are almost twice as likely to develop a substance use disorder, and 43% of people seeking treatment have a diagnosis or symptoms of anxiety, depression, or another mental health disorder.

Not only can anti-anxiety medications be addictive, but many people use drugs and alcohol as a way to self-medicate or cope with anxiety disorders.

If you are facing a dual diagnosis of addiction and anxiety, it is not your fault – and Decision Point Center can help. Call us at (844) 292-5010 to get started.

Identifying an Anxiety Disorder

Anxiety is part of life, and it can be useful in certain situations. For example, a bit of anxiety before a test can make you more likely to study. When fear, worry, and distress take over your life, however, you might be looking at an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders manifest in many ways, but they all share some common symptoms. Most notably, “persistent or excessive fear or worry in situations that are non-threatening.”

Other common symptoms include:

  • Feelings of apprehension or dread
  • Being tense or jumpy
  • Restlessness
  • Irritability
  • Anticipating the worst
  • Being watchful for signs of danger
  • Pounding or racing heart
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sweating, tremors, and twitches
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue and insomnia
  • Upset stomach or diarrhea
  • Frequent urination

Many times, doctors prescribe benzodiazepines and other drugs to help alleviate these symptoms. But if the root of your anxiety disorder isn’t addressed, as well, you could easily develop a drug dependency.

If untreated anxiety has led to addiction, an inpatient program can help you deal with both problems at once in a safe, non-judgmental environment.

Diagnosis and Treatment

At Decision Point Center, we want to get to the root of your substance use and mental health disorders. As such, we will work hard to identify what kind of anxiety disorder you are facing and exactly how that plays into your addiction.

You might be suffering from:

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
  • Social anxiety disorder
  • Panic disorder
  • Phobias
  • Agoraphobia
  • Selective mutism
  • Separation anxiety disorder
  • Substance-induced anxiety disorder

While the physical symptoms of anxiety are sometimes misdiagnosed, dual diagnoses can be easier to identify. Additionally, the treatments for anxiety and substance use disorder can be very similar, especially when facilities like ours focus on holistic wellbeing and treat you as a whole person.

When you choose treatment at Decision Point Center, you will have access to a variety of proven therapies, countless enrichment activities, life skills development, and beneficial support programs.

All of our clients participate in 12-step programs, but unlike other treatment centers, we let individuals choose the program that works best for them.

You are a unique person, and you are more than your substance use and mental health disorders, so we base our treatments and programs around who you are and what works for you, specifically.
