Long Term Treatment
Life Long Recovery

DocGRobert “Doc” Gibson, LISAC, CCGC
Attending Gambling Therapist

In 1984 Doc began his own path of recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. He became passionate about his recovery and subsequently started his 23 year career in the addictions treatment field. He began at an adolescent inpatient hospital unit, educating adolescents and their families about substance abuse, chemical dependency and family systems. In realizing the important influence his childhood experiences and family history had on his roots of his addiction, he commenced an intense study of co-dependence. With the help of long term mentors, Pia Mellody and the two founders of CODA (Co-Dependents Anonymous), Doc began educating and treating the addict/alcoholic and their families.

His focus is on “Family of Origin” work and family systems. Working with adolescents, their families and the family system became one of Doc’s specialties. Currently his primary focus is the treatment of compulsive gambling. Having become a Certified Compulsive Gambling Counselor (CCGC), Doc has worked in private practice to help those suffering with a gambling addiction. In 1994 Doc held the contracts for the Arizona Lottery and the Office of Problem Gambling.
